Sakamichi meets Kinjou, who tells him to become stronger. He learns that Makishima and Tadokoro have come to cheer on the team as well and tells the rest of the team shaken by the first day's loss. Team Sohoku resolves to approach the rest of the race with a new attitude. Meanwhile, the similarly defeated Midousuji of Kyoto Fushimi begins planning a new strategy for the second day's race...
